Final Evaluation of Youth Vision Zambia’s “Access and Influence-Youth Sexual Health Promotion” Project

The objective of the evaluation was to assess the project outcomes and implementation and to consolidate lessons learnt with a view to determining whether an extension of the project within the current or a new framework is relevant and realistic.

The approach was largely participatory where the consultant engaged key project players on a one-on-one discussion. The groups of people talked to includes YVZ staff and trained counsellors, school anti-AIDS club members from Burma Road Basic and Lusaka High schools. Further, the consultant reviewed relevant performance monitoring data as compiled by the YVZ’s M&E Unit. The SMS system was reviewed for two days; examining SMS traffic/volume, quality of response, errors, response time among others. It is also worth noting that the consultant verified some of the media campaign materials such as pocket guide produced, posters, stickers, newspaper cuttings as well as audio recordings. The consultant therefore made conclusions based on the views from interviewed project players, the reviewed SMS system and all materials/documents reviewed (project documents & media campaign materials).
